Main Street / CVB is two separate city departments with similar purposes that collaborate to increase the quality of life in Plainview. Main Street's efforts include:
  • Strengthening businesses in the Historic Business District and recruiting new ones
  • Preserving and restoring historic buildings
  • Molding the Historic Business District into a destination for shopping, entertainment, and leisure
  • Defining the Plainview Main Street niche in the shopping and tourism market
  • Providing a vibrant events venue

Convention & Visitors Bureau
The purpose of the Plainview Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is to market the entire City of Plainview and its attractions and businesses by:
  • Adhering to a proactive marketing plan that stresses exposure on regional, state, and national / international levels
  • Collaborating with tourism groups, state agencies, and state / national groups to bring tourists, retirees, post secondary students, sporting events, and new businesses to Plainview
  • Overseeing the marketing of the Plainview Civic Center, Plainview’s première meeting, convention, and dining venue, located at the city-owned Plainview Country Club

12 Days of Christmas

Downtown Plainview is proud to announce our 12 Days of Christmas Celebration.  The Celebration will consist of 12 days of events happening downtown - while not consecutive, it will allow for a celebration throughout the month of December.

The 12 Days of Christmas Celebration will be:

December 1st 
    5:00 p.m. Hale County Literacy Council Event/Fair Theatre 
    6:30 p.m. Christmas Parade

December 3rd 
    8:30 p.m. Movie - National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest/Fair Theater (More adult-type event – tickets $3/each)

December 6th 
     All Day Open House/Centennial Bank 
    5:00 p.m. Business After Hours/Centennial Bank

December 9th 
    5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wine Walk/ Downtown Shopping Night 
    7:00 p.m. PCA’s “Fiddler on the Roof”/Fair Theatre

December 10th 
    10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Downtown Shopping Day 
    1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Santa Downtown/Millennium Park 
    7:00 p.m. PCA’s “Fiddler on the Roof”/Fair Theatre

December 11th 
    5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Broadway Brew & Plainview Herald Coloring Contest/The Broadway Brew

December 14th
